Who we are

Thimblepost mails real paper letters from fictional characters to a child, set up and paid for by their parent or guardian (the account holder). We're a US-only service today.

What we collect about your child

You choose what to share. Everything below except your child's first name and reading level is optional.

• Your child's name (and nickname). So their character can address them by name in letters and audio.
• A few things about your child — interests, pronouns, favorites, a recent milestone, a parent goal, and topics to avoid. So letters feel personal and stay age-appropriate. You choose what to share; all of it is optional.
• Pronunciation hints and, if you provide one, a short voice recording of your child's name. So the audio says their name the way you say it. The recording is used only for this.
• Your child's reading level. So the writing matches how independently your child reads.

What we collect about you (the parent)

Your email, your name if you give it, and your child's mailing address so we can post the letters. Payments are handled by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number.

How AI is used

Letters are drafted by AI following the character's voice guide, checked by a second AI for safety, and then read by a person before anything is printed. Your child's details shape the writing; they are not used to train public AI models.

What we never do

• We never have the character ask your child for information — the character only writes to your child.
• We never sell your or your child's data.
• We don't request photos or contact details of your child.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data while your subscription is active and for a short period after, except records we're required to retain (e.g. payment records held by Stripe). You can export or delete your data from your account at any time.
